Phylogenetic Analysis of Intestinal Microbial Community
The indigenous microflora of fish, particularly the microbial ecology of the digestive tract, has been investigated
by many researchers. This is due to its assumed importance in digestion and disease control. It is known, mainly
from studies of the intestinal microflora of warm blooded animals, that the bacterial population structure of the
intestine influences the establishment of pathogenic micro-organisms in the intestinal tract.
